Erectile dysfunction medicines took in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A guy was talked to by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines by means of the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was brought out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its office, Peter Moore, stated: "It is crucial that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.

"These kinds of items being offered, normally online, have actually gone through no quality assurance and there can be no assurance about their safety.

"You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not understand the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
